canary-islands · 6 min · Value Advisor
What the ZEC is
The Zona Especial Canaria is an EU-authorised tax regime granting entities that meet strict conditions a reduced corporate income tax rate.
Requirements
- Registered office and genuine activity in the Canary Islands.
- Minimum fixed-asset investment within the first two years.
- Creation and maintenance of local jobs.
- An activity included in the list of eligible activities.
When it makes sense
ZEC works when there is a real business project to root in the islands. It is not a tool for shifting profits without substance.
The process
Eligibility analysis, business plan, application to the Consortium, incorporation and go-live, coordinated with home-country obligations throughout.
